The book offers an overview of developments in family sociology. The presentation of three central sociological theories and their application to family sociology serves as the point of departure. The book’s contents focus on the areas of family configuration and life forms, the social and ecological environment for families, gender relations, and the socialization of subsequent generations. For each of these family-sociological themes, the book provides an overview of the development of debates as well as of the societal transformations in each individual field. The discussion of each object of study ends with an examination of current situations, although this aspect remains relatively underdeveloped in comparison.Downloads
