Five rather new, monographic studies in the fields of Social Science and Cultural Studies focusing on gender relations and gender constructions in the East-West-German process of reunification are in the center of this collective review. Despite all differences regarding their disciplinary approaches to the object of study, regarding methodological-methodic features, and regarding their position towards the results, their views on the turnaround have a common focus on private gender relationships. According to the tenor of the publications, there are still considerable differences in the dominant gender cultures in Eastern and Western Germany, which, at the same time, reflect the asymmetric structure of the GDR joining the old-FRG.Downloads
