Based on several different methodological and theoretical approaches, the authors of the anthology give an overview on important questions concerning media, military and war, as well as gender. An analysis of the entanglements and interactions between these domains from the viewpoint of gender and social theory is the goal of the papers. The following are in the center of the studies: affirmations and irritations of social orders, especially of gender orders, for example in media reports about female soldiers and female suicide bombers, in depictions of women and men in war movies, and in theater plays during the time of WWI, as well as historical views on early female war correspondents. These discussions are completed by the perspectives of female journalists who share their own experiences.Downloads
