Shrouding and displaying corpses has always been a characteristic of dealing with death on the religious, cultural, social, and individual level. The recommended anthology impressively explores that for the historical and current enactments of death and the dead, their sartorial, material, and visual encoding carries special meaning and value. Furthermore, the articles and their precise individual analyses clarify to what extent enactments of dead bodies also inherently reflect gender constructions.Downloads
