This overview of the current research environment of gender related spatial research is characterized by a large variety of topics, perspectives, as well as theoretical and methodological approaches. The authors discuss the conceptualization of gender (which has been in a state of flux over time) while relating it to the respective geographical research area. Conceptual considerations about the definition of space can also be found in several articles. Most authors examine the co-construction of space and gender while either taking an intersectional perspective or advocating one for future research. This is justified by the suitability of the intersectional approach, which is said to be able to meet the complexities of social injustice while also being able to revaluate differing social positions in research practices as well as in societal life.Downloads
