Against the backdrop of rising numbers of single parents and the well-known economic risks of this kind of family structure, Barbara Rinken takes on the challenge to explore them regarding emancipation and deconstruction of dichotomous notions of gender. On the basis of a profound reconstruction of the state of research as well as interviews specifically conducted for this project, she extracts the possibilities that this way of life offers single parents regarding their individual construction of sexuality as well as the boundaries that are put to these possibilities. The empirically well applied aspiration to connect subjective localization to findings regarding social structure makes her empirically grounded analysis particularly exciting.Downloads
