Christine Löw’s dissertation (in the field of Political Science) examines Gayatri C. Spivak’s postcolonial-feminist thinking. In her careful, mainly affirmative explanations she aims at utilizing Spivak’s considerations for Political Science. To this end, she discusses their theoretical position within critical approaches of Marxism, feminism, and deconstruction as well as her reflections on epistemic violence of western thinking against the south while also illustrating her theses on subalternity with four selected political topics. Situating Spivak’s works within the context of German-speaking social science and posing additional research questions on globalization and production of knowledge are the main achievements of this book.Downloads
