In this study, Karin Schwiter analyzes how young adults talk about their plans for the future and, in doing so, which concepts they construct about their future. Compared to older research on this topic, this study stands out, among others, due to a gender comparison, the spatial-temporal focus on German-speaking Switzerland, and a discourse-analytical approach following Foucault. This results in an inspiring book, within which, based on the accounts of twenty-four young women and men, the author develops social-theoretical interpretations and prospects. These confirm how neo-liberal individuality and continuing gender norms are intertwined to such an extent that thematizations of gender inequality seem almost impossible.Downloads
