Judith von der Heyde presents a theoretically sound and empirically rich work that expands the state of research on gender relations in the football fan scene. On the basis of her ethnographic accompaniment of two female members of an Ultragroup, she shows action strategies and areas of tension of young women in the male-dominated youth culture of the Ultras on a praxeological level. Her concluding theses on the hegemonization of femininity leave room for discussion, but von der Heydes work provides important insights and offers a corrective to the often androcentric fan research.
