Abstract

Dagmar von Hoff’s study spans from an analysis of an ethnological tabu term to the literary and historical transformations of the incest theme and their mythic dimensions to incest as a traumatic experience. Incest is hereby understood as a threshold experience that leads to the boundaries of that which can be spoken and, hence, challenges literary texts, such as film, in their strategies of representation.
