Appropriate strategies for overcoming external occupational and internal private demands within a partnership are necessary so that both highly educated partners may follow professional careers. This is the expansive thesis of the provocative collected volume at hand. The eleven essays make clear that equality-based gender relationships are in no way self-explanatory for dual-career couples: housework and care-giving responsibilities still prove to be overwhelmingly the woman’s duty, who then must integrate these tasks into her career plans. The volume provides a readable overview of the broadly differentiated theoretical and empirical research on dual-career couples, specifically in Germany, and offers numerous impulses for further research projects.Downloads
