With her thesis on intersexuality, which was probably one of the first non-medical publications in the German-speaking world in 2004, Caroline Stern presents a comprehensive account of various aspects of intersexuality, while showing an obvious association with the intersex movement. Within the context of its time of production this work has to be understood as basic research. Thus, the presentation of all social discourses regarding intersexuality is favored over a constricting research question – at that time, a valid and necessary approach for the perspective of this work. Unfortunately, the research findings were not updated for the publication in 2010, despite significant advances within the field of non-medical intersex research.Downloads
